Step By Step Process For Homemade Catch Pole for Trapping
Step 1: Drill hole on the PVC end cap
To build a catch pole first drill a hole at the center of 4′ of 3/4″ PVC end cap. Put the drill on the cap, just hold it and slowly draw into the center of the cap. Take your time because if you rush you may end up making big holes in it or possibly you can even crack this. Be very careful doing that.
Step 2: Drill on the PVC pipe
You need a 3 quarter inch PVC pipe of any length you want. The length of the pipe you can take is 38 inches long. Generally, you can take between 36 to 42 inch long PVC pipes. If you take more than 42 inches the problem with that it may become too flexible. Slide end cap onto the end of your PVC pipe and then a quarter inch away mark with a pencil where to drill the hole.
Step 3: Insert your cable into the PVC pipe

Step 4: Strip to have bare cable

Carefully thread the cable to the PVC end cap and insert it inside the pipe down to the opposite end. Then attach the PVC end cap to the end of the pipe and with the help of a hammer strike the end cap gently so that it remains tightly attached to the pipe.
Make sure the end cap does not come out from the pipe. Don’t tap too hard so that it does not break. Again repeat this process and attach another end cap to the other end of the PVC pipe with the cable that came out from the first end of the pipe.
A loop will be created when you thread the cable to the pipe and keep the loop 2-3 times larger than the animal head. You can use PVC glue instead of using a hammer to attach the end cap with the PVC pipe.

Don’t tap or push the end cap roughly or it may crack or break. Carefully use the cable cutter while making a bare cable. Be very careful while making hole on the end cap and PVC pipe. Make sure that you draw holes on the right place. Try not to take more than 42 inches long PVC pipe.
If you want to make a lock system, gently at the end of the cable make a loop and pull the cable through. Use the hammer gently. While using it, make sure the end cap does not break or crack.
